Unit 6 Projects

Whimsical house

I don't know if I can count this for both my whimsical house and my hobbit-inspired piece, but this was originally supposed to be a house that got broken after it was fired.

Organic shape

At this point, there was no more regular clay left, and I had to use terracotta, but I made the most of it. I hand-molded two seashell-like structures and put small holes into them so that I could tie them together and make a shell that can open up and hold jewelry for my girlfriend's birthday. I am happy with how they turned out, but I wish I had more artistic abilities; instead of shaky hands, it would make sculpting much easier.

Large sculpture - vase

This was one of my few times throwing, and I don't know how easy it is to tell, but this piece was sort of uneven. I attempted to cone up and cone down numerous times, but I never got the hang of it. I thought that my piece wasn't dancing anymore, but it still turned out to be what I wanted, a large vase. I am happy with the shape and size of the vase, but I am a little worried about how fragile it is because of how thin it was after I fired it.
