I spent many classes trying to create an octopus to share the importance of this creature to its biosphere. An octopus is a keystone species because it controls the population of shellfish, which consume the kelp and therefore limit the food source in the biosphere.

This project really tested my patience. Since I had just joined ceramics this second semester, I was new to the process of creating pieces, and my first two attempts at this monster ended up in the slop bucket. I really just hope that the kid enjoys this piece that I made for her.

This was my inspiration from the third grader. I tried my best to recreate their masterpiece of a drawing, and I hope they were happy with the result.
